Arguably the best place to see snowmen is the annual Sapporo Snow Festival, one of Japan’s most celebrated winter events. This photo shows a sea of snowmen (yuki-daruma) built by festival visitors who attach written wishes to the snowmen for good luck. More photos at Pink Tentacle. Photo by kozyndan.
"Frosty the Snowman" is a popular Christmas song written by Walter "Jack" Rollins and Steve Nelson in 1950 and first recorded by Gene Autry and the Cass County Boys. In 1972, Walter Rollins admitted in an interview with Life magazine that they initially wrote "Frosty the Snowman" as a cautionary tale about "nuclear winter."
